Peyton, and her alter ego Red Thorn was indeed trying to keep herself hidden away from the prying eyes of the massage tech. She wasn't trying to advertise that Red Thorn could be so easily overpowered when it came time for her massaging time. As she was trying to play along with the tech, she turned her back at the wrong time. To late for the application of the RST took down the startled villain.
Peyton, was now discovered that her alter ego Red Thorn, was now compromised. As the door was closed on Red Thorn, she wasn't going to take this betrayal just standing around.
